Entropion surgery corrects an eyelid that rolls inwards, causing the lashes to rub against the cornea with every blink, leading to ocular surface irritation and pain.
The procedure
The procedure is performed as day surgery under local anaesthesia and takes about thirty minutes. In the case shown, a canthopexy and weakening of the orbicularis muscle were performed. Recovery involves little pain, with variable swelling and bruising in the first few days.
Scar and recovery
The scar is discreet (under the lashes) and stitches are removed on day 7 after surgery.
