Upper blepharoplasty removes the excess skin of the upper eyelid. It is indicated for aesthetic concerns (drooping eyelids) and/or functional impairment of the upper visual field. It is performed by Dr Prud'homme, ophthalmic surgeon subspecialised in eyelid surgery in Boulogne-Billancourt and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.
The indication
An eye examination confirms the surgical indication and rules out any contraindications.
The procedure
The procedure is performed as day surgery under local anaesthesia and takes about thirty minutes. Recovery involves little pain, with variable swelling and bruising in the first few days.
Scar and recovery
The scar is discreet, hidden in the fold above the eyelid. Stitches are removed between the 5th and 7th day after surgery. The detailed timeline (swelling, back to work, sport, make-up) is described in our article Blepharoplasty recovery: what to expect.
