With age, the tissues of the cheek descend: the hollow under the eyes deepens (tear trough), dark circles set in and the eyes look tired. The midface lift repositions these tissues to restore harmony between the lower eyelid and the cheek.
Indications
Descent of the cheek, tear trough hollow, deep dark circles, a tired look despite normal sleep. It is often performed together with a lower blepharoplasty to treat both the bags and the hollow beneath them.
The operation
The incision is hidden beneath the lashes (subciliary approach). The midface tissues are repositioned and fixed, often with a supporting canthopexy. The operation is performed as day surgery, under deep local or general anaesthesia.
Recovery
Swelling and bruising for 1 to 2 weeks; about 10 days away from social life. The result is fully appreciated after 3 to 6 months, once the swelling has resolved.
Frequently asked questions
Is the midface lift reimbursed?
No: it is an aesthetic procedure with unregulated fees. A personal quote is provided at the consultation, with a 15-day reflection period.
How does it differ from lower blepharoplasty?
Lower blepharoplasty treats the bags; the midface lift treats the descent of the cheek and the hollow beneath. The two procedures are complementary and often combined in the same operation.
Are the scars visible?
The subciliary incision is hidden at the lash line and becomes very discreet within a few weeks.
