Your care journey

From the first consultation to post-operative follow-up, here is how surgical care with Dr Prud'homme unfolds, step by step.

1. The initial consultation

Full eye examination at the practice (visual acuity, slit lamp, additional tests if needed). Dr Prud'homme confirms the indication, explains the procedure, its benefits and risks, and gives you the corresponding French Society of Ophthalmology information sheet.

2. The quote and reflection period

A detailed personal quote is provided. A 15-day reflection period applies for aesthetic surgery. This is the time to contact your insurer.

3. The anaesthesia consultation

If the operation is under general anaesthesia or sedation, an anaesthesia consultation is mandatory a few days beforehand. Most eyelid procedures are performed under local anaesthesia, possibly with sedation.

4. The day of surgery

The operation is performed as day surgery at the Ambroise Paré clinic (Neuilly-sur-Seine), the Jouvenet clinic (Paris 16th) or the Bercy clinic (Charenton-le-Pont): you go home the same day. Follow the fasting instructions if sedation is planned, and come accompanied — driving is not advised on the day of surgery.

5. Recovery

You leave with your prescriptions (local care, painkillers) and precise instructions: icing, no rubbing, no swimming or intense sport for the stated period. For eyelid surgery, variable swelling and bruising are normal in the first days. If anything unusual occurs, the secretariat passes it on to Dr Prud'homme.

6. Follow-up

A check-up is scheduled about one week after surgery (with suture removal if needed), then later to assess the result. Follow-up consultations after aesthetic surgery are included in the initial quote.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be hospitalised?
No: almost all procedures are performed as day surgery. You arrive in the morning or early afternoon and go home the same day after a short observation period.
Can I drive after the operation?
Not on the day itself: vision may be temporarily affected by swelling and ointments. Come accompanied or plan a taxi.
When can I go back to work?
It depends on the procedure: from a few days for a minor procedure to 7-10 days for a blepharoplasty. The return date is discussed at the consultation.
